As mentioned in my first post, this blog came about due to the 2025 bingo card concept. There’s also a little bit of this being a pushback against the proliferation of LLM (I hate that people call it AI. It’s not intelligent, it’s just plagiarised pieces running through a reasonably sophisticated algorithm) created content.
I’m a real person. With real ideas and opinions and those will change with new information as it becomes available. I believe in technology, hell, a very clever algorithm literally keeps me alive. But I also know that in order to avoid getting sucked into suspect things, we need to hone our critical thinking constantly. And I am horrible at this, I admit it. If it’s something I agree with, I will absolutely be biased towards it being true… I’m working on it.
I digress…
I think it’s important that we interact with humans more than machines. I think that creating software that attempts to mimic human creativity is a horrible use of technology. I think that technology should make our lives better and easier in some ways, but I think it should do it in the same way that a power drill makes it easier to drive screws. Allow me to do the thing I want easier, don’t do the thing I want for me. And for me to do the creative, explore a talent, hone a skill, try something that seems interesting parts of life, build a better dishwasher. Drop the price of robovaccums. Develop a self-cleaning bathroom. Don’t give me something that pets my dog for me or turns my food into nutrition pills.
There’s a long-standing “be the change you want to see in the world” and while I’m never going to single-handedly take down LLMs, I can at least create something that is, for all its flaws and foibles and wonder and hilarity, human.
So, yes. Hi. I’m Ryn, no, not that one, the OtherRyn. And I’m going to tell you about the stuff I do. Probably with the cursey words. I’m AuADHD, T1D, fun sized, crafty, and I look forward to letting you see inside my brain a bit. It’s a dark and swirly place. No one should go there, probably. But it’s home and I’ve started to decorate it just like I want. Please take your shoes off at the frontal lobe and don’t touch there, it tickles in the bad way.
